I’m able to transfer books from my kindle to the kindle pc app but I’m not able to figure out how to transfer books that I have downloaded onto my kindle pc to get them to my kindle. Any suggestions? Thank you

I have just bought a Sony Reader. I have tons of books. Is there a simple way ,without having to re-purchase all my books, to transfer them to my computer?
When I am referring to my “books” I am referring to the books on the book shelf that I have collected over the years.
